  • Kings' Alex Len: Returning to starting five

Len is starting Monday's game against the Hawks, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.

Len will join the first unit for the second time in three games while Domantas Sabonis (back) and DeMar DeRozan (back) continue to work their way back from injuries. Len started Friday night's game against the Timberwolves but finished with only two points and one rebound in nine minutes.

  • Kings' Doug McDermott: Back to bench Monday

McDermott will come off the bench in Monday's game against the Hawks, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.

Alex Len will enter the starting lineup with McDermott retreating to the second unit. The 32-year-old forward has carved out a decent role with the club this year, and in his last five outings he has averaged 4.4 points and 1.4 rebounds across 14.8 minutes per game (one start).

  • Kings' DeMar DeRozan: Taking steps in right direction

DeRozan (back), who has already been ruled out for Monday's game against the Hawks, has been cleared for individual on-court workouts, Law Murray of The Athletic reports. He'll be considered day-to-day moving forward.

This is great news for the veteran forward, as it sounds like a return is possible for Friday's game against the Clippers if all goes well over the next few days. DeRozan's absence hasn't been particularly long, so he shouldn't need too much time to ramp back up. The team should have more information to share on the 35-year-old's availability closer to Friday's matchup.

  • Kings' Malik Monk: Cleared for individual work

Monk (ankle) has been cleared to participate in individual on-court workouts, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.

Monk has been sidelined for the Kings' last four games after spraining his right ankle against the Suns on Nov. 10. He'll progress to individual workouts, and his next step will be to return to team drills and 5-on-5 work. In the nine games prior to his injury, Monk had averaged 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 26.9 minutes per game.

  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Won't play Monday

Sabonis (back) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Hawks, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.

Sabonis will miss his second consecutive outing due to lower back tightness, though he has been cleared for individual on-court activities and is nearing a return, according to Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee. Trey Lyles and Alex Len are both candidates for an increased role until Sabonis is able to come back. The star big man's next chance to suit up will come Friday against the Clippers.

  • Kings' Colby Jones: Rejoins parent club

Sacramento recalled Jones from the G League's Stockton Kings on Monday, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.

Jones has been making frequent trips to the G League to get some live reps, as he remains on the fringe of the rotation at the NBA level. He posted 25 points (11-21 FG, 3-7 3Pt), five rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in 35 minutes for Stockton in Sunday's 127-122 win over the South Bay Lakers.

  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Doubtful for Monday

Sabonis (back) is doubtful for Monday's game against the Hawks.

Sabonis will likely miss a second consecutive game due to lower back tightness. Trey Lyles figures to see a significant role once again, while Alex Len could also see some action if Sabonis is in fact unable to go.

  • Kings' DeMar DeRozan: Ruled out for Monday

DeRozan (back) is out for Monday's game against the Hawks.

DeRozan has been dealing with a lower-back injury that will hold him out of a third straight game. Doug McDermott and Jordan McLaughlin picked up substantial minutes during Saturday's game and figure to continue to see ample roles with DeRozan sidelined.

  • Kings' Doug McDermott: Does little in starting role

McDermott closed with six points (2-7 FG, 2-6 3Pt), one rebound and one steal in 19 minutes during Saturday's 121-117 win over Utah.

The Kings continue to experiment with schemes to absorb DeMar DeRozan's (back) production with mixed results, and McDermott didn't solve the equation. Given Trey Lyles' proficiency as a shot-taker, employing a larger lineup might solve the issue if DeRozan's absence is extended, allowing Keegan Murray to move over to make room for a Lyles/Domantas Sabonis (back) combo up front. Given Saturday's results, Murray should return to his customary role, with McDermott possibly headed back to the bench.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Fills in for Sabonis with 17 points

Lyles contributed 17 points (6-9 FG, 5-7 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one block in 35 minutes during Saturday's 121-117 win over the Jazz.

Filling in for Domantas Sabonis (back) is a tall order, but Lyles was solid in relief. He lurked at the perimeter often in the victory, drilling five three-pointers in a rare display of sharpshooting. Sabonis should return soon, but Lyles' performance gives the Kings confidence that they're well-covered at the position.

  • Kings' De'Aaron Fox: Keeps rolling in victory

Fox had 49 points (16-30 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 14-19 FT), nine assists, three rebounds and two steals across 36 minutes during Saturday's 121-117 victory over Utah.

Fox kept humming on all cylinders following his stellar 60-point showing against the Timberwolves. He's taken a whopping 65 shot attempts over the past two games and has been given license to turn it loose in the offense, which has been slightly short-handed amid DeMar DeRozan's (back) two-game absence, which was compounded Saturday by Domantas Sabonis (back) also sitting out. DeRozan's offensive output has taken the pressure off Fox and Sabonis to ball out every night, and the significant increase from Fox is partly due to the missing production at the wing, as well down low Saturday. Fox's numbers will flatten out once DeRozan returns, but he's currently on an amazing run that could persist as long as at least one of his two star teammates is out.

  • Kings' Doug McDermott: Starting vs. Jazz

McDermott is in the Kings' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Jazz, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.

McDermott will make his second start of the 2024-25 regular season Saturday. His last start took place against the Raptors on Nov. 2, during which he played just 15 minutes and logged four points and one rebound. Over his last four outings, McDermott has averaged 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds across 13.8 minutes.

  • Kings' Alex Len: Back to bench Saturday

Len is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Utah.

Len is back on the bench for the second half of this back-to-back set, as Trey Lyles will get the nod at center. Len posted just two points and one rebound in nine minutes in Friday's loss to Minnesota.

  • Kings' Trey Lyles: Starting Saturday

Lyles is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Jazz.

The Kings will shake things up in the frontcourt with the absence of Domantas Sabonis (back), and Lyles will get the nod at center instead of Alex Len, who got the nod in the loss to the Timberwolves on Friday. This will be Lyles' first start of the 2024-25 campaign. He's averaging 4.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game this season.

  • Kings' DeMar DeRozan: Won't play vs. Utah

DeRozan (back) is out for Saturday's game against the Jazz.

As expected, DeRozan will also sit out the second half of this back-to-back set, marking two straight absences for the veteran. The Kings opted to start Alex Len at center and Keegan Murray at small forward in Friday's loss to the Timberwolves, but there could be more changes to their lineup since Domantas Sabonis (back) is also out for Saturday's contest. DeRozan's next chance to play will come against the Hawks on Monday.

  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Won't play against Utah

Sabonis has been ruled out for Saturday's game versus the Jazz due to lower back tightness.

Sabonis will miss Saturday's contest due to an injury that popped up during Friday's overtime loss to the Timberwolves. Alex Len and Trey Lyles are candidates to receive increased playing time in Sabonis' absence. Sabonis' next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Atlanta.

  • Kings' Orlando Robinson: Returns to NBA

The Kings recalled Robinson from the Stockton Kings of the G League on Saturday, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.

Robinson made his G League debut Friday and recorded 26 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in 29 minutes of action. However, with Sacramento, Robinson is expected to compete for depth minutes in the frontcourt.
