Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Iffy for Tuesday
Doncic (knee) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans.
Doncic admitted after Saturday's win over the shorthanded Spurs that he's been less than 100 percent over the last week, so it wasn't surprising to see him get the night off during Sunday's game against the Thunder, which the Mavericks surprisingly won. That was Doncic's first absence of the season, and if the MVP candidate remains sidelined Tuesday, Quentin Grimes would likely draw another start.

Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Muted performance in win
Thompson closed with five points (1-11 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one block and two steals over 25 minutes during Sunday's 121-119 victory over Oklahoma City.
Thompson couldn't get anything going Sunday, but the Mavericks managed to improve to 7-7 on the season. This was Thompson's third dud in a row, and fantasy managers will be hoping he can break out of this mini-slump soon. In his last three games, he's shooting 31.4 percent from the field and 29.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Double-double off bench Sunday
Gafford registered 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-7 FT), 12 rebounds and one block across 18 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 121-119 win over the Thunder.
It was the first double-double of the season for Gafford, who has been deployed as part of the second unit for three straight games. He's been a reliable source of secondary offense in November regardless of his role, scoring in double digits in seven straight contests while averaging 15.1 points, 7.3 boards and 1.6 blocks over that stretch while shooting 74.6 percent from the floor.

Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Drops 23 in Sunday's win
Irving chipped in 23 points (9-18 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and six assists across 36 minutes during Sunday's 121-119 victory over the Thunder.
The veteran guard delivered his usual production, even with Luka Doncic (knee) in street clothes. Irving has scored more than 20 points with five or more assists in five straight appearances, averaging 27.6 points, 5.8 assists, 4.8 boards, 2.8 threes and 1.2 steals over that stretch while shooting a blistering 62.4 percent from the floor and 48.3 percent (14-for-29) from beyond the arc.

Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Career night on glass
Washington racked up 27 points (7-13 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 10-10 FT), 17 rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 28 minutes during Sunday's 121-119 win over Oklahoma City.
The 17 boards were a career high for the 26-year-old forward, who also produced a season-high scoring effort in the absence of Luka Doncic (knee). Washington missed five games himself earlier this month due to knee trouble, and he was making his first start since Nov. 4. Doncic isn't expected to be sidelined for long, but Washington could continue to see elevated usage as long as the Mavs' superstar is unavailable.

Mavericks' Maxi Kleber: Back to bench Sunday
Kleber will come off the bench during Sunday's game against the Thunder, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
Kleber started the last two games as a result of P.J. Washington's absence due to knee injury, but he will shift back to a bench role Sunday. Kleber holds averages of 2.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15.0 minutes per game across four appearances this season.

Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Back in starting lineup Sunday
Washington will start Sunday's game against the Thunder, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
Washington returned Friday in a limited role after missing five straight games due to a knee injury, but he will return to the starting five Sunday. With Luka Doncic (knee) unavailable, Washington may be called upon more often offensively.

Mavericks' Quentin Grimes: Confirmed starter Sunday
Grimes is in the Mavericks' starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Thunder, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
As expected, Grimes will enter the starting five Sunday due to Luka Doncic (knee) being sidelined. Grimes tallied 15 points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal over 36 minutes in his last start Thursday against the Jazz.

Mavericks' Quentin Grimes: Expected to start sans Doncic
Coach Jason Kidd said Grimes will likely start Sunday's game against the Thunder, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
With Luka Doncic (knee) sidelined, Grimes is expected to draw another spot start. Grimes replaced Kyrie Irving in the starting lineup during Thursday's win in Utah and posted 15 points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal in 36 minutes.

Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Won't play Sunday
Doncic has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Thunder due to a right knee contusion.
Doncic admitted after Saturday's win over the short-handed Spurs that he's been less than 100 percent over the last week, so it's not surprising to see him get a game off during the second night of a back-to-back set. Doncic's next chance to suit up will come Tuesday versus New Orleans. In Doncic's absence, Quentin Grimes, Jaden Hardy and Spencer Dinwiddie are candidates for increased usage.

Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Minutes capped in return
Washington (knee) came off the bench and recorded zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and two steals across 19 minutes in Saturday's 110-93 win over the Spurs.
Making his return from a five-game absence due to a sprained right knee, Washington was eased back into the Dallas rotation as a reserve after he had started in each of the Mavericks' first seven contests of the season. Once he's further removed from the injury, Washington should eventually move back to the top unit and revert to a near-30-minute role, but he'll likely face some restrictions once again Sunday in Oklahoma City, if Dallas makes him active for the contest.

Mavericks' Dereck Lively: Will remain in starting role
Lively will remain in the starting role "for the next couple of games," head coach Jason Kidd told media, including Landon Thomas of Mavs Fans For Life, in his post-game press conference following Saturday's win over the Spurs. "We'll see how D Live handles these next couple of games as a starter, and then we'll figure out who will start after that. But, D Live has been great."
Lively got the start in Saturday's win over the Spurs and posted seven points, four rebounds, two assists and four blocks across 20 minutes. Even though Daniel Gafford outplayed him with a 22-point, seven-rebound, three-block effort in only 18 minutes, it seems Lively will stay with the first unit for now. There's no timetable for Kidd to make a definitive decision on who will be the starting center going forward -- assuming he'll make one at some point.

Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Subpar stat line Saturday
Doncic posted 16 points (6-16 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-3 FT), six rebounds, six assists and two steals across 28 minutes during Saturday's 110-93 victory over the Spurs.
Although a 16-point, six-rebound, six-assist line is impressive for some players, it's a low-level performance for a player of Doncic's caliber. The 16-point effort was his second-lowest mark of the 2024-25 campaign, but considering that Doncic has scored at least 30 points in three of his last five outings, he should have the chance to bounce back when the Mavs take on the Thunder on Sunday. That promises to be a tougher matchup for Doncic due to the quality OKC has on the defensive end of the court.

Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Leads Dallas to victory
Irving registered 22 points (9-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and two steals in 28 minutes during Saturday's 110-93 victory over San Antonio.
Luka Doncic had a subpar stat line with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists, but Irving picked things up on offense and co-led the Mavs in scoring alongside Daniel Gafford, who also finished with 22 points. Irving looked good in his return to the hardwood following a one-game absence and should remain in a starting role -- and with a high usage rate and workload -- going forward if he stays healthy.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Shines off bench Saturday
Gafford closed Saturday's 110-93 win over the Spurs with 22 points (9-10 FG, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal across 18 minutes.
Gafford and Dereck Lively have been alternating in the starting role, but the former is expected to continue coming off the bench in the next few games, according to Jason Kidd and per Landon Thomas of Mavs Fans For Life. Gafford has been playing at a high level in recent days and has scored in double digits in six straight contests.

Mavericks' Quentin Grimes: Back to bench role
Grimes is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Spurs, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.
As expected, Grimes will return to the bench since Kyrie Irving is back from a one-game absence. Grimes is averaging 4.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game in five appearances off the bench this month, so he's not expected to have a lot of fantasy upside if he's not starting.
