  • Yankees' Luis Gil: Captures AL ROY

Gill was named the 2024 American League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year on Monday.

Gil narrowly came away with the award by collecting 15 first-place votes in comparison to Colton Cowser's 13 first-place votes. Gil was certainly a worthy recipient of the honor after turning in a 3.50 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with a 171:77 K:BB across 29 starts (151.2 innings). However, there will be plenty of competition within the Yankees' rotation heading into the 2025 campaign, leaving no room for Gil to become complacent.

  • Yankees' Pablo Reyes: Inks minors deal with NYY

The Yankees signed Reyes to a minor-league contract Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

The 31-year-old utility player hit .287/.339/.377 as a part-timer in Boston in 2023 but slashed only .183/.234/.217 between the Red Sox and Mets in 2024. Reyes has started a game at every position on the diamond other than catcher and pitcher, so he will bring plenty of versatility to the table as a depth piece for the Yankees.

  • Yankees' Cristian Hernandez: Lands MiLB deal from NYY

The Yankees signed Hernandez to a minor-league contract Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Hernandez, 24, spent most of the 2024 campaign at Double-A Reading in the Phillies organization, collecting a 3.40 ERA and 44:9 K:BB over 42.1 frames. He has yet to advance past the Double-A level and has been assigned to Double-A Somerset for the time being.

  • Yankees' Jordany Ventura: Gets minors pact from Yankees

The Yankees signed Ventura to a minor-league contract Thursday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Ventura, 24, pitched at three different minor-league levels in the Mets organization in 2024, compiling a 2.96 ERA and 55:20 K:BB across 48.2 innings. The righty reliever has been assigned to Double-A Somerset.

  • Yankees' Caleb Durbin: Seen as integral piece next season

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Durbin is "going to play a big, big role for us this upcoming season," Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Durbin, who turns 25 in February, batted .287/.396/.471 with 10 home runs, 29 stolen bases and a 37:47 K:BB this season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He also boasts a .934 OPS with four homers and 23 steals in 21 games so far during Arizona Fall League play. Durbin has played every position other than first base and catcher, but he spent most of his time in 2024 at second base and could be a candidate to start there for the Yankees in 2025. While not yet on the 40-man roster, Durbin is a shoo-in to be added to it this offseason in order to be protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Boone sees big role in 2025

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that he expects Dominguez to be a "big part" of the team in 2025, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Much to the chagrin of many Yankees fans, Boone largely stuck with Alex Verdugo as his primary left fielder over Dominguez during the regular season and postseason. However, Verdugo is now a free agent and seems unlikely to return, clearing a spot in the everyday lineup for Dominguez. What position the 21-year-old plays could depend on whether the Yankees' re-sign Juan Soto, but Dominguez is likely to be an everyday player either way. He has a .747 OPS with six homers and six steals over 100 career plate appearances in the majors and boasts ample fantasy upside.

  • Yankees' Brandon Leibrandt: Nets minors deal from Yankees

Leibrandt signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Friday.

Leibrandt elected free agency after being dropped from Cincinnati's 40-man roster in October, and he'll now join the Yankees organization to help fill out the roster at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 31-year-old southpaw put up a 4.41 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 87.2 minor-league innings last season across 18 starts.
