Josh Brown EDM D
Oilers' Josh Brown: Makes Edmonton debut
11m agoBrown had two hits and two PIM in Monday's 3-0 loss to Montreal.
Brown was called up over the weekend after Darnell Nurse (upper body) suffered an injury during Saturday's game against Toronto. Edmonton gave a 5-10 day timeline for Nurse, so Brown could stick around for the rest of the week.
-
Calvin Pickard EDM G
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Takes loss in Montreal
28m agoPickard stopped 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Canadiens.
Pickard did his job but got little support from the offense; it was the fifth time in seven starts he's allowed two goals or fewer. The Oilers had more shots over the first two periods of the game, but the Canadiens scored late in the second and twice in the third while controlling tempo over the final period. Pickard dropped to 4-3 with a 2.44 GAA and an .893 save percentage. Edmonton is back at it Tuesday night in Ottawa, when presumably Stuart Skinner will start.
-
Brock McGinn ANA LW
Ducks' Brock McGinn: Won't return Monday
1h agoMcGinn sustained a lower-body injury and will not return to Monday's contest against the Stars.
McGinn crashed into the boards after being tripped in the middle frame by Thomas Harley. McGinn was able to get up on his own, but he was favoring his left leg, per Taylor Baird of NHL.com. The Ducks face the Blackhawks in the second half of a back-to-back Tuesday, so expect an update on McGinn's status ahead of puck drop in Chicago.
-
Cam Talbot DET G
Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Defending road crease
1h agoTalbot will be in the blue paint for Monday's road game versus the Sharks, according to Max Miller of NHL.com.
Talbot has allowed more than two goals in a game only once through five outings in November. The 37-year-old has alternated losses and wins over his last four matchups, and overall, Talbot has a 5-3-1 record, .927 save percentage and 2.42 GAA through 10 appearances. San Jose ranks second-to-last in the NHL with 2.37 goals per game across 19 contests.
-
Urho Vaakanainen ANA D
Ducks' Urho Vaakanainen: Unavailable Monday
3h agoVaakanainen (upper body) won't suit up Monday against Dallas.
Vaakanainen will miss his second straight contest, and it's not yet known if he's close to returning. The 25-year-old has collected an assist through five appearances this season. Drew Helleson will make his second appearance of the season on the third defensive pairing.
-
Lukas Dostal ANA G
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Tending twine in Dallas
3h agoDostal will be between the pipes for Monday's road matchup versus the Stars.
Dostal will make his 13th start of the season Monday -- he has a 4-6-2 record, .922 save percentage and 2.75 GAA through 12 outings. The 24-year-old is 0-4-1 over his last five starts, and he'll face a Dallas club that's scored 3.38 goals per game through 16 contests.
-
Justin Dowling NJ C
Devils' Justin Dowling: Rejoining NHL club
6h agoDowling was recalled from AHL Utica on Monday.
Dowling was loaned to the minor-league club Sunday, but he'll rejoin New Jersey a day later. Nathan Bastian (jaw) was placed on long-term injured reserve while Curtis Lazar (knee) landed on IR on Monday, so Dowling could continue to serve in a bottom-six role for the Devils. Over nine NHL appearances this year, he's logged an assist and 11 hits while averaging 8:13 of ice time.
-
Shane Bowers NJ C
Devils' Shane Bowers: Recalled by New Jersey
6h agoBowers was recalled from AHL Utica on Monday.
Bowers made just eight appearances for the Devils last year and averaged 9:27 of ice time, so it seems unlikely that he'll have a significant role during his current stint with the NHL club. However, he should provide additional depth for New Jersey while Nathan Bastian (jaw) and Curtis Lazar (knee) are sidelined.
-
Michael Rasmussen DET C
Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Slated to return Monday
9h agoRasmussen (upper body) is expected to play Monday against San Jose, Jonathan Mills of the Red Wings' official site reports.
Barring a last-minute decision, Rasmussen should return from a one-game absence. He has two goals, two assists, 14 shots on net and 30 hits through 16 appearances this season. Rasmussen could replace Tyler Motte in Monday's lineup.
-
Nico Sturm SJ C
Sharks' Nico Sturm: Shifts to IR
10h agoSturm (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site.
Sturm missed Saturday's 3-2 loss to Vancouver, and his placement on the IR list will keep him out for at least another three games. The 29-year-old forward has three goals, three assists, 15 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and 22 hits through 18 appearances this season. The Sharks brought up netminder Yaroslav Askarov from AHL San Jose in a corresponding move due to an injury to Vitek Vanecek (undisclosed).
-
Joel Eriksson Ek MIN C
Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: On track for Tuesday
10h agoEriksson Ek (lower body) is expected back in the lineup Tuesday against the Blues but is still awaiting final medical clearance, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Eriksson Ek retook his first-line role at practice Monday in addition to linking up with the No. 1 power-play unit. If the 27-year-old center does play, he will be looking to end a six-game goal drought during which he managed just one helper. The return of Eriksson Ek will help to bolster a forward group that will be without Mats Zuccarello (lower body) for 3-4 weeks.
-
Samuel Helenius LA C
Kings' Samuel Helenius: Recalled from minors
10h agoHelenius was called up from AHL Ontario on Monday.
It seems Helenius' demotion to the minors Sunday was a paper transaction with the forward now officially back on the NHL roster. Looking ahead to Wednesday's matchup with the Sabres, it will likely come down to Helenius or Akil Thomas for the last spot on the fourth line. In his four appearances for the Kings, the 21-year-old Helenius has garnered two assists, four shots on goal and 12 hits.
-
Brock McGinn ANA LW
Ducks' Brock McGinn: Won't return Monday
1h agoMcGinn sustained a lower-body injury and will not return to Monday's contest against the Stars.
McGinn crashed into the boards after being tripped in the middle frame by Thomas Harley. McGinn was able to get up on his own, but he was favoring his left leg, per Taylor Baird of NHL.com. The Ducks face the Blackhawks in the second half of a back-to-back Tuesday, so expect an update on McGinn's status ahead of puck drop in Chicago.
-
Nolan Foote NJ LW
Devils' Nolan Foote: Brought up from minors
6h agoFoote was summoned from AHL Utica on Monday.
Foote has four goals and nine points in 12 minor-league outings this season. In corresponding moves, the Devils moved Curtis Lazar (knee) and Nathan Bastian (jaw) to IR and LTIR, respectively. In addition to Foote, New Jersey recalled Shane Bowers, Justin Dowling and Nick DeSimone from the AHL on Monday.
-
Nathan Bastian NJ RW
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Moves to LTIR
6h agoBastian (jaw) was put on long-term injured reserve Monday.
Bastian sustained a jaw injury in a 3-0 loss to Calgary on Nov. 1, meaning he won't be eligible to return until at least Nov. 27 versus the Blues. He has two goals, five points, 11 shots on net, seven blocked shots and 19 hits through 12 outings this season. On Monday, the Devils also moved Curtis Lazar (knee) to injured reserve while recalling Shane Bowers, Justin Dowling, Nolan Foote and Nick DeSimone from AHL Utica.
-
Curtis Lazar NJ RW
Devils' Curtis Lazar: Lands on injured reserve
6h agoLazar (knee) was placed on injured reserve Monday, retroactive to Oct. 27.
Lazar had already been ruled out indefinitely after undergoing a knee procedure at the end of October, so his move to injured reserve isn't particularly surprising. The Devils recalled Shane Bowers, Justin Dowling and Nolan Foote from AHL Utica on Monday, and they should help provide additional depth while Lazar is unavailable.
-
Victor Olofsson LV RW
Golden Knights' Victor Olofsson: Assigned to AHL for conditioning
6h agoOlofsson (lower body) was assigned to AHL Henderson on a conditioning loan Monday.
Olofsson has been dealing with a lower-body injury for just over a month, and he was transferred to long-term injured reserve last week. However, he's now off injured reserve, per the NHL media site, and his conditioning assignment signals that he's likely getting closer to returning to game action for the Golden Knights. Over four appearances to begin the season, Olofsson tallied three goals, a hit and a blocked shot while averaging 15:03 of ice time.
-
Kasperi Kapanen STL RW
Blues' Kasperi Kapanen: Hits waivers
9h agoKapanen was placed on waivers Monday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Kapanen has been limited to 10 appearances this season because of five healthy scratches and a four-game absence due to an upper-body injury. He has contributed one goal, 11 shots on net and 15 hits when he's been in the lineup. If Kapanen clears waivers, he could see regular playing time with AHL Springfield.
-
Josh Brown EDM D
Oilers' Josh Brown: Makes Edmonton debut
11m agoBrown had two hits and two PIM in Monday's 3-0 loss to Montreal.
Brown was called up over the weekend after Darnell Nurse (upper body) suffered an injury during Saturday's game against Toronto. Edmonton gave a 5-10 day timeline for Nurse, so Brown could stick around for the rest of the week.
-
Urho Vaakanainen ANA D
Ducks' Urho Vaakanainen: Unavailable Monday
3h agoVaakanainen (upper body) won't suit up Monday against Dallas.
Vaakanainen will miss his second straight contest, and it's not yet known if he's close to returning. The 25-year-old has collected an assist through five appearances this season. Drew Helleson will make his second appearance of the season on the third defensive pairing.
-
Nick DeSimone NJ D
Devils' Nick DeSimone: Called back up
6h agoDeSimone was recalled from AHL Utica on Monday.
DeSimone spent over a week with the Devils before being assigned to Utica on Sunday, but he didn't appear in any games during that stint in the NHL. He'll rejoin the Devils a day after being sent down, but it seems likely that he'll continue to serve mainly as a seventh defender.
-
Ville Heinola WPG D
Jets' Ville Heinola: Sent to AHL for conditioning
6h agoHeinola (ankle) was activated from injured reserve and assigned to AHL Manitoba on Monday for a conditioning assignment.
Heinola will get into his first game action of the 2024-25 season at the minor-league level after recovering from ankle surgery. The 23-year-old rearguard registered 10 goals and 27 points across 41 AHL regular-season appearances in 2023-24. Once Heinola returns to the big club, he could compete for playing time with the Jets. However, earning a spot in the lineup will be difficult because of the team's success in 2024-25.
-
Mike Reilly NYI D
Islanders' Mike Reilly: Set to undergo heart procedure
7h agoReilly will undergo a procedure on his heart Tuesday and will be sidelined indefinitely.
Reilly had been dealing with a concussion recently, and even though he's been cleared from that issue, he'll miss time due to his heart condition. The condition was discovered when he underwent routine testing as part of his concussion recovery. General manager Lou Lamoriello said Monday that Reilly's recovery process from his procedure could take several months, but the defenseman is expected to be able to play again at some point.
-
Alexander Romanov NYI D
Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Game-time call Tuesday
7h agoRomanov (upper body) will be a game-time decision versus the Flames on Tuesday.
Romanov hasn't played since Nov. 1 versus Buffalo, a stretch of seven games on the shelf due to his upper-body injury. With Mike Reilly (chest) out indefinitely and Adam Pelech (jaw) yet to resume skating, the Islanders would certainly benefit from getting the 24-year-old Romanov back into the lineup.
-
Calvin Pickard EDM G
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Takes loss in Montreal
28m agoPickard stopped 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Canadiens.

-
Vitek Vanecek SJ G
Sharks' Vitek Vanecek: Dealing with upper-body issue
8h agoVanecek sustained an upper-body injury and remains day-to-day, ruling him out against Detroit on Monday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
With Vanecek on the shelf, the team called up Yaroslav Askarov to serve as the backup to Mackenzie Blackwood in Monday's matchup with Detroit. At this time, it's unclear if Vanecek will travel for the team's upcoming two-game road trip -- if he doesn't, Blackwood and Askarov would likely split the back-to-back.
-
MacKenzie Blackwood SJ G
Sharks' Mackenzie Blackwood: Leaves ice first
8h agoBlackwood was the first goalie off the ice Monday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports, indicating he'll patrol the home crease versus Detroit.
Blackwood has been seeing the majority of the workload ahead of Vitek Vanecek (undisclosed) but could be in danger of losing starts to Yaroslav Askarov, who was called up from AHL San Jose in light of Vanecek's injury. The 27-year-old Blackwood is struggling for wins, posting a 3-5-3 record to go with a 2.98 GAA, a 914 save percentage and one shutout in 11 outings.
-
Justus Annunen COL G
Avalanche's Justus Annunen: Set to face Flyers
10h agoAnnunen will defend the road net Monday against Philadelphia, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports.
Annunen allowed three goals on six shots before being pulled early in Friday's 5-2 loss to Washington. He has a 5-3-0 record with a 2.92 GAA and an .881 save percentage through nine appearances this season. Philadelphia is tied for 19th in the league with 2.83 goals per game in 2024-25.
