  • Oilers' Josh Brown: Makes Edmonton debut

Brown had two hits and two PIM in Monday's 3-0 loss to Montreal.

Brown was called up over the weekend after Darnell Nurse (upper body) suffered an injury during Saturday's game against Toronto. Edmonton gave a 5-10 day timeline for Nurse, so Brown could stick around for the rest of the week.

  • Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Takes loss in Montreal

Pickard stopped 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Canadiens.

Pickard did his job but got little support from the offense; it was the fifth time in seven starts he's allowed two goals or fewer. The Oilers had more shots over the first two periods of the game, but the Canadiens scored late in the second and twice in the third while controlling tempo over the final period. Pickard dropped to 4-3 with a 2.44 GAA and an .893 save percentage. Edmonton is back at it Tuesday night in Ottawa, when presumably Stuart Skinner will start.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Set to miss 5-10 days

Nurse (upper body) is expected to be out for about 5-10 days, per Kenzie Lalonde of TSN on Monday.

Nurse left Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto early in the second period following a high hit from Ryan Reaves, who received a five-game suspension. The 29-year-old Nurse has two goals, seven assists, 45 shots on net, 32 blocked shots and 34 hits across 18 appearances this season. He will be replaced in Monday's lineup against Montreal by Josh Brown.

  • Oilers' Viktor Arvidsson: Won't play Monday

Arvidsson (undisclosed) won't play Monday against Montreal, according to Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels.

Arvidsson will miss his third straight game. He has generated two goals, five points and 38 shots on net through 16 appearances this season. Edmonton will dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen again versus the Canadiens, but Josh Brown will replace Darnell Nurse (upper body) in the lineup.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Between pipes Tuesday

Skinner will tend the twine for Tuesday's road game at Ottawa, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports.

With Calvin Pickard already named the starter for Monday's matchup with Montreal, the decision to go with Skinner for the second game of the back-to-back shouldn't come as a surprise. While the 26-year-old Skinner has managed a 2-1-1 record in his last four outings, he's also given up at least three goals in each of those contests. Still, he figures to remain the No. 1 option in Edmonton unless Pickard can string together some strong performances.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Won't play Monday

Nurse (upper body) will not be in the lineup against the Canadiens on Monday, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports.

At this point, Nurse should probably be considered a heavy doubt to face the Senators on Tuesday with the Oilers heading into a back-to-back. With the veteran blueliner sidelined and an injury keeping Viktor Arvidsson (undisclosed) out, the Oilers figure to roll with seven defensemen, which means both Josh Brown and Troy Stecher should see minutes over the next two games.

  • Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Starting in Montreal

Pickard will guard the road goal Monday versus the Canadiens, according to Tony Brar of Oilers TV.

Pickard is coming off a 20-save effort in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over Nashville. He has a 4-2-0 record with a 2.49 GAA and an .890 save percentage through seven appearances this season. Montreal is tied for 19th in the league with 2.83 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Oilers' Josh Brown: Summoned from AHL

Brown was recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Sunday.

Brown has two assists and 46 PIM in 12 minor-league appearances this season. He could make his Edmonton debut in Monday's game against Montreal after Darnell Nurse (upper body) sustained an injury in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto.

  • Oilers' Travis Dermott: Could see more playing time

Dermott was in the lineup for a second straight game in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

A tight cap situation has forced the Oilers to deploy seven defensemen for the last two games, as Viktor Arvidsson (undisclosed) has been unavailable. Darnell Nurse (upper body) exited Saturday's game after an ugly hit, so Dermott may be set to take over a spot on the third pairing if Nurse misses time. Through his first eight appearances with the Oilers, Dermott has no points, three shots on goal, seven blocked shots, four hits, two PIM and a minus-2 rating, so he's unlikely to be a factor in fantasy.

  • Oilers' Connor Brown: Plucks apple Saturday

Brown recorded an assist in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

Brown has collected four points over his last five contests. The 30-year-old winger and linemate Adam Henrique have been more involved offensively lately. Still, Brown has three goals, two assists, 33 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over 18 appearances. He's strong enough defensively to stick in the lineup, but fantasy managers will want to see either more offense or a larger role before considering him for their rosters.

  • Oilers' Zach Hyman: Sends power-play helper

Hyman logged a power-play assist, two shots on goal and two PIM in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

Hyman had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two games. The 32-year-old winger's inconsistent start to the year may have scared off some fantasy managers, but he's still seeing top-six minutes in an offense that's starting to find its groove. He's now at three goals, five helpers, 45 shots on net, 18 hits, 12 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 18 contests. Hyman might have been due for regression after shooting 18.6 percent last season, but he's better than the 6.7 percent conversion rate he's had in 2024-25.

  • Oilers' Adam Henrique: Tickles twine in overtime loss

Henrique scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

The goal was Henrique's second of the campaign, with his other coming back on Oct. 15 versus the Flyers. The 34-year-old center has two points over his last four contests, but his third-line role hasn't been conducive to generating consistent offense. He's at three points, 28 shots, 16 hits, 16 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 18 outings this season.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Another queasy night in blue paint

Skinner made 18 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto on Saturday.

Skinner is best deployed with a big container of antacids. His game has been up and down (mostly down, it feels like), and his stat line of a 5-5-2 record, 3.28 GAA and .877 save percentage have hung like an anchor around most fantasy managers. Skinner found his groove last season after a horrendous start, so there's always hope. Hope's a crummy strategy, though. At some point, you are going to need to determine if you can live through a Skinner see-saw or not.

  • Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Four-game, eight-point streak

Draisaitl scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.

Late in the third, Draisaitl forced overtime when he stuffed a loose puck to the right of the crease past a sprawling Anthony Stolarz with Stuart Skinner pulled for the extra attacker. Draisaitl has put up four consecutive two-point games (four goals, four assists), and he has 24 points, including 13 goals, in 18 games this season. His 13 goals tie him with Sam Reinhart of the Panthers for the league lead. Two words: fantasy gold.

  • Oilers' Connor McDavid: Four-game, 11-point streak

McDavid scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto on Saturday.

The goal came on the power play. McDavid, who grew up in Richmond Hill, about 40 minutes north of Scotiabank Arena, has 37 points (12 goals, 25 assists) in 24 games against the Maple Leafs. He's riding a four-game, 11-point streak that includes a goal in each game. McDavid has 24 shots in those four outings.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Exits game with upper-body injury

Nurse sustained an upper-body injury during Saturday's tilt against Toronto and won't return to the game.

Nurse logged 7:45 of ice time before departing the contest. He entered the game with two goals, nine points, 33 hits and 31 blocks in 17 appearances in 2024-25. Edmonton has only 11 healthy forwards and seven defensemen on the roster, so if Nurse and Viktor Arvidsson (undisclosed) can't play Monday versus Montreal, a call-up from the AHL will be necessary.

  • Oilers' Viktor Arvidsson: Unavailable Saturday

Arvidsson (undisclosed) won't play Saturday versus Toronto, per Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels.

Arvidsson participated in Saturday's morning skate but will miss his second straight game. Edmonton will dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen versus the Maple Leafs, with Troy Stecher remaining in the lineup. Arvidsson has two goals, five points and 38 shots on net through 16 appearances this season.
