Luis Gil NYY SP
Yankees' Luis Gil: Captures AL ROY
4h agoGill was named the 2024 American League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year on Monday.
Gil narrowly came away with the award by collecting 15 first-place votes in comparison to Colton Cowser's 13 first-place votes. Gil was certainly a worthy recipient of the honor after turning in a 3.50 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with a 171:77 K:BB across 29 starts (151.2 innings). However, there will be plenty of competition within the Yankees' rotation heading into the 2025 campaign, leaving no room for Gil to become complacent.
-
Paul Skenes PIT SP
Pirates' Paul Skenes: Brings home NL ROY
4h agoSkenes was named the 2024 National League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year on Monday.
This award comes as no surprise for Skenes, who earned 23 first-place votes and seven second-place votes in a landslide victory. The flamethrower posted an eye-poping 1.96 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 170 strikeouts over 23 starts (133.0 innings) during his rookie campaign. However, Skenes already has his sights on next season, per Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I was super pleased with this year, going out there and competing. But there's more work to be done."

Cole Sulser TB RP
Rays' Cole Sulser: Avoids arbitration
5h agoThe Rays and Sulser avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

-
Austin Shenton TB 1B
Rays' Austin Shenton: Designated for assignment
5h agoThe Rays designated Shenton for assignment Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
The club has decided it had a better use for a 40-man roster spot ahead of the Rule 5 Draft protection deadline. Shenton will turn 27 in January and has just 50 major-league plate appearances under his belt, but he's slashed .276/.391/.541 with 34 homers in 144 games at the Triple-A level, so there could be interest in the infielder via waivers.
-
Pablo Reyes NYM DH
Yankees' Pablo Reyes: Inks minors deal with NYY
7h agoThe Yankees signed Reyes to a minor-league contract Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
The 31-year-old utility player hit .287/.339/.377 as a part-timer in Boston in 2023 but slashed only .183/.234/.217 between the Red Sox and Mets in 2024. Reyes has started a game at every position on the diamond other than catcher and pitcher, so he will bring plenty of versatility to the table as a depth piece for the Yankees.
-
Justin Hagenman BOS RP
Mets' Justin Hagenman: Major-league contract with Mets
7h agoThe Mets signed Hagenman to a one-year, $850,000 contract Monday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Hagenman has never pitched at the big-league level, but the Mets saw enough promise in the 28-year-old to add him to their 40-man roster. The right-hander spent all of the 2024 season at Triple-A Worcester in the Red Sox organization, posting a 4.91 ERA and 98:31 K:BB over 91.2 innings while splitting time between the rotation and bullpen.
-
Norman Powell LAC SG
Clippers' Norman Powell: Heads to locker room Monday
10m agoPowell (leg) went back to the locker room in the first quarter of Monday's game against the Warriors, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
Powell limped back to the locker room and it is unclear whether he will be able to return Monday. if the 31-year-old guard is unable to come back, Amir Coffey and Kevin Porter are candidates for an uptick in playing time the rest of the way.
-
Cade Cunningham DET SG
Pistons' Cade Cunningham: Posts another strong outing
16m agoCunningham ended with 26 points (8-17 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 6-9 FT), six rebounds and 10 assists across 36 minutes during Monday's 122-112 loss to the Bulls.
Cunningham led Detroit with 26 points and was clearly locked in from beyond the arc. He also continued his streak of reaching double figures in assists, as he's now dished out 10 or more in four consecutive appearances.
-
Malik Beasley DET SG
Pistons' Malik Beasley: Finds success off bench
19m agoBeasley totaled 21 points (8-19 FG, 5-14 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Monday's 122-112 loss to the Bulls.
Beasley returned to the bench for Monday's clash following the return of Tim Hardaway from a head injury, but the role change had little impact on his production. Beasley ended the night second on his team in scoring behind Cade Cunnningham (26 points) despite a tough shooting performance. The Florida State product has now poured in 20 or more points in five straight showings, proving to fantasy managers that he's deserving of a look despite slotting in as a reserve.
-
Jalen Duren DET C
Pistons' Jalen Duren: Huge night on boards
25m agoDuren ended with 15 points (7-13 FG, 1-2 FT), 22 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 30 minutes during Monday's 122-112 loss to the Bulls.
Duren lived on the glass all evening, securing a season-high 22 rebounds while notching his second straight double-double. The big man has now recorded double-digit rebounding performances in three of his last five appearances. Duren also had a strong showing on the defensive end, accounting for two of his squad's three swats.
-
Josh Giddey CHI PG
Bulls' Josh Giddey: Notches third double-double
29m agoGiddey finished Monday's 122-112 win over Detroit with 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), eight rebounds and 10 assists over 29 minutes.
Giddey was somewhat efficient on the offensive end and scored in double figures for the first time in a week. He also put together his best passing performance since Nov. 7, good enough for his third double-double of the 2024-25 campaign. There should be plenty of opportunities to rack up assists for Giddey moving forward, at least while Nikola Vucevic, Zach LaVine and Coby White all continue to play at a high level.
-
Coby White CHI PG
Bulls' Coby White: Posts another big night
33m agoWhite racked up 25 points (9-14 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one block over 33 minutes during Monday's 122-112 win over Detroit.
White was busy scorching the nets from beyond the arc in this one and finished tied for second on his squad in scoring behind Nikola Vucevic's 29-point showing. White has been a consistent source of points for the Bulls of late, averaging 20.8 points over his last five appearances. It's clear there are plenty of opportunities to go around between Vucevic, White and Zach LaVine in Chicago.
-
Josh Brown EDM D
Oilers' Josh Brown: Makes Edmonton debut
10m agoBrown had two hits and two PIM in Monday's 3-0 loss to Montreal.
Brown was called up over the weekend after Darnell Nurse (upper body) suffered an injury during Saturday's game against Toronto. Edmonton gave a 5-10 day timeline for Nurse, so Brown could stick around for the rest of the week.
-
Calvin Pickard EDM G
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Takes loss in Montreal
27m agoPickard stopped 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Canadiens.
Pickard did his job but got little support from the offense; it was the fifth time in seven starts he's allowed two goals or fewer. The Oilers had more shots over the first two periods of the game, but the Canadiens scored late in the second and twice in the third while controlling tempo over the final period. Pickard dropped to 4-3 with a 2.44 GAA and an .893 save percentage. Edmonton is back at it Tuesday night in Ottawa, when presumably Stuart Skinner will start.
-
Brock McGinn ANA LW
Ducks' Brock McGinn: Won't return Monday
1h agoMcGinn sustained a lower-body injury and will not return to Monday's contest against the Stars.
McGinn crashed into the boards after being tripped in the middle frame by Thomas Harley. McGinn was able to get up on his own, but he was favoring his left leg, per Taylor Baird of NHL.com. The Ducks face the Blackhawks in the second half of a back-to-back Tuesday, so expect an update on McGinn's status ahead of puck drop in Chicago.
-
Cam Talbot DET G
Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Defending road crease
1h agoTalbot will be in the blue paint for Monday's road game versus the Sharks, according to Max Miller of NHL.com.

The 37-year-old has alternated losses and wins over his last four matchups, and overall, Talbot has a 5-3-1 record, .927 save percentage and 2.42 GAA through 10 appearances. San Jose ranks second-to-last in the NHL with 2.37 goals per game across 19 contests.
-

3h agoVaakanainen (upper body) won't suit up Monday against Dallas.

-
Lukas Dostal ANA G
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Tending twine in Dallas
3h agoDostal will be between the pipes for Monday's road matchup versus the Stars.
Dostal will make his 13th start of the season Monday -- he has a 4-6-2 record, .922 save percentage and 2.75 GAA through 12 outings. The 24-year-old is 0-4-1 over his last five starts, and he'll face a Dallas club that's scored 3.38 goals per game through 16 contests.
